Our gathering spot is the Canning Creek Camp Area #2 at Council Grove Reservoir. You may arrive anytime Friday, June 5th and set up camp. Shelter house and shower facilities are nearby. If you don't wish to camp, there is lodging available in the nearby town of Council Grove, but reservations should be made well in advance.

We will have three primary ride formats (see below) of several patrols each scheduled for June 6th. There will be an early-bird ride on the afternoon of the 5th .... and possibly, a morning ride on the 7th.

We'll get the Intermediate and Scenic rides started Saturday, June 6th at the group site shelter with a rider meeting at 8:00 am and departure no later than 9:00 am. Advanced Ride groups will meet at 7:30 am, with a planned 8:00 am departure time.

* Please arrive at your designated rider meeting fully fueled and ready to go.

* All bikes must be licensed and tagged for street/highway use. The main rides scheduled for June 6th will be led by experienced members of Backroads Touring - Kansas. With large groups, we may split into smaller patrols. All riders need to familiarize themselves with the 'Safety Page', as those are the group safety protocols that will be followed on these rides.

Ride Formats ....

• A challenging "advanced" ride on mostly minimum maintenance roads in Wabaunsee county.

• A moderately technical "intermediate" ride on gravel and minimum maintenance roads in Morris and Chase counties.

• A "scenic" ride for novice/experienced riders is planned. Dirt, gravel and some asphalt roads. Long sections of open range riding. Numerous scenic stops in Morris, Chase, Butler, and Greenwood counties.

• Cost is $45 per rider and includes Friday & Saturday night park camping fees, a catered BBQ dinner Saturday night, live musical entertainment and an event T-Shirt. If you are having a guest join you for dinner, cost is $10/plate .... just include a note in your registration/check that there will be an extra dinner guest.

* The registration closing date was originally set for Friday May 22, 2009 or 75 rider registrations received, whichever came first (we are limited by the Corps of Engineers on the number of vehicles and people staying in camp). Due to early responses, registration closed this year on April 17th when 82 rider registrations had been received. After May 18, 2009 all non-confirmed registrations and registration fees will be returned if there are no other cancellations and open slots to fill.

* If registration is confirmed on this page, no cancellation refunds after Friday, May 15, 2009. In that situation, your 2009 Stampede shirt will be mailed to you.
